FAQs
At Loyal to Nature, we embrace a core belief: that all life on this planet should be cherished. Recognizing our connection with nature - and that we, as humans, are nature too - we form partnerships with individuals and organizations who share our values. We believe in respecting and appreciating the good humans who make our clothes, honoring our beautiful oceans, and extending our support to worthy causes.
We will always be loyal stewards of nature.
What are your values?
How is your clothing “loyal” to nature?
Our clothing is made in manufacturing facilities powered by green renewable energy. The carbon footprint of Loyal to Nature clothing has been reduced by 90% by our manufacturers (not through carbon offsets) and labels display the registered “climate neutral” designation, certified by Carbon Trust Certifications in the UK.
Our clothing is made exclusively from 100% organic cotton certified under the most recent Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS). While all of our clothing is made with certified organic cotton, It does not not bear the GOTS label on the tags due to alterations (printing and labeling). GOTS has strict guidelines about this (which is a good thing) so please reach out with any questions and we’ll be happy to share the GOTS registration information and license number for transparency and assurance of our commitment to certified organic textiles.
We’ve chosen organic cotton because it is biodegradable, unlike synthetic fibers (such as polyester and nylon) which persist in the environment, contributing to micro-plastic pollution. Organic cotton also does not expose farmers and workers to toxic chemicals, it eliminates toxic contamination of groundwater and soil thus protecting biodiversity, and does not expose the wearer of organic cotton clothing to hazardous chemicals through the skin.
All Loyal to Nature garments are dyed in a zero-waste dye-house (all water is recycled in a closed-loop system) with GOTS approved chemicals, and certified to OEKO-Tex 100 Class I standard. We also use direct-to-garment Kornit printing technologies for our graphic designs using non-toxic, water based inks. These inks are also certified to meet the standards for GOTS and OEKO-Tex 100 class 1. Preventing water waste and contamination is important to us; we want to ensure we do not harm people, aquatic life, plants, wildlife and insects with hazardous chemicals.
In addition to our clothing, we only package and ship our sustainable clothing in sustainable packaging, using materials that are responsibly sourced, recyclable, compostable, non-toxic, plastic-free and vegan.
Where is your clothing made? Is it ethically manufactured?
Our clothing is made in India and printed in the UK. Our manufacturer, located in Tirupur, India, undergoes regular audits to comply with the Fair Wear Foundation Code of Labour Practices and meets the standards of the Ethical Trading Initiative. Our expectation is adherence to the standards set forth by the International Labour Organization. The code of labour practices follows legal labor contracts, a living wage (and added premium payments), safe and healthy working conditions, no child labor or forced labor, and no discrimination or excessive hours of work.
The manufacturing facility is certified by both GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) and OEKO-Tex 100 Class 1 Standard. They are audited by Fair Wear Foundation and WRAP Gold. Since our manufacturer is designated by Fair Wear Foundation as a “leader” in the performance category, the Fair Wear Foundation designation is proudly displayed on garment labels. Our manufacturer controls the operations of more than two thirds of its yarns, while 100% of the fabrics are knitted in house. For the materials that are sourced externally, they have a supplier policy and agreement to ensure that their ethical standards of labour practices as well as social and environmental compliance are met throughout the supply chain.
Is your clothing vegan?
Yes! We will always ensure that everything at Loyal to Nature (products, packaging, shipping, etc) is vegan as well. We are passionate about being kind to all animals.
Where is your jewelry made, and is it made ethically/sustainably?
We are excited to offer a beautiful collection by Token Jewelry, a brand that embodies our commitment to sustainability, ethics and elegance. Each piece is 14K gold-filled and designed for lasting beauty while prioritizing eco-friendly practices. The entire collection is handcrafted in the USA with ethically and sustainably sourced gold and gemstones to support responsible practices. Token Jewelry always uses recycled materials as part of their zero-waste policy, with the percentage of recycled content varying by piece.
Is your jewelry safe for sensitive skin and daily wear?
Built for durability, Token Jewelry is waterproof and meant for everyday wear - each piece is also hypoallergenic and nickel-free, making it an ideal choice for those with sensitive skin. Token Jewelry maintains their dedication to the environment through non-toxic cleaning and polishing methods, which is also gentle on the skin.
How do I care for my jewelry?
Gold-filled jewelry features a base metal such as brass, elegantly covered with a substantial layer of gold. This layer is bonded through a mechanical process that employs heat and pressure. In contrast, gold-plated items usually have a much thiner layer of gold, making gold-filled jewelry much more durable.
To maintain the beauty and luster of gold-filled jewelry, it’s essential to take a few simple precautions. You can minimize any tarnishing with mindful care:
Avoid applying perfume, hairspray, or other chemicals directly onto your jewelry.
If you’ve used body oil or lotion, allow it to dry completely before wearing your jewelry to prevent reactions that may affect its finish.
Steer clear of contact with nail polish, nail polish remover, chlorine, and sweat, as these can begin to tarnish the metal and its coating. Remove your jewelry before exercising.
For regular maintenance, gently clean your jewelry using a soft cloth to remove dust and dirt. Lightly rubbing the surface with a soft jewelry cloth can help restore its shine; however, avoid using polishing cloths, as they may strip away the finish.
If deeper cleaning is necessary, soak your jewelry in mild soapy water for a few minutes and then clean it with a soft cloth. Please refrain from using harsh jewelry cleaners or antibacterial soaps, as these can accelerate tarnishing.
To prevent scratches, wrap your jewelry in a soft cloth after cleaning and store it in a jewelry box, ideally kept separate from other items.
For optimal preservation, store similar pieces together, avoiding contact between gold and silver items, as different metals can cause tarnishing or discoloration.
How do you package your products?
We are dedicated to non-toxic packaging:
Our mailers are 100% home compostable or commercial compostable. They are made from 70-80% PBAT (a co-polymer that is completely compostable) and 20-30% PLA (a fancy way of saying cornstarch!)
Our garment bags are made from FSC certified paper and blended with recycled content. They are fully curb-side recyclable
Our shipping labels are made from 100% post-consumer recycled white paper with a non-toxic adhesive and are processed chlorine free and BPA free. They are fully compostable.
Our stickers are made from sugarcane fiber, hemp and linen. They are environmentally friendly and 100% home compostable.
Our tissue paper is made with 100% FSC certified recycled paper fiber with no added synthetic polymers and is processed chlorine-free. It is both recyclable and compostable (check with your local waste management provider to see how they want tissue paper disposed!)
Our hang tags and other inserts are uncoated and made with 10% post-consumer waste, are FSC certified and printed with soy-based inks.
We use hemp cord to attach our hang tags, which is biodegradable, made with AZO-free dye and polished with cornstarch and potato starch.
How does Loyal to Nature give back?
At Loyal to Nature, we're proud to donate a percentage of our profits to the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, an organization dedicated to marine wildlife protection and ocean conservation. Sea Shepherd is committed to stopping illegal fishing, protecting endangered species, preserving their habitats. as well as rescuing injured marine animals & working to rehabilitate them.
How should I care for my clothing?
It’s best to turn your clothing inside-out before washing. This helps prevent fading of any printed designs. Our garments are made from 100% certified organic cotton and can be safely dried in the dryer. Please note that due to the natural properties of cotton, a slight shrinkage may occur. For best results, we recommend washing in cold water and hanging to dry, or tumble drying on low to maintain the perfect fit!
